Poetry: Catch-24

Don’t you see, my dear?

After all these years,

I’ve finally found

the crux of it all!

See, we stop and we think,

as we laugh and we drink,

that perhaps Tomorrow

will be the Day.

So we sit and we wait,

as we cry and eat cake,

and we watch for the Day

to soon dawn.

But then in a blink,

we rise from the brink

with our sunken eyes,

and we say,

“How curious; it seems

mid these moments and dreams

Yesterday was in fact

the Day!”
